| Fashion Week | NYC 2013
Twice a year we go to NYC for Fashion Week. We get to say hi to old friends, make new ones and preview all of the amazing things that our brands have to offer for the upcoming season.
January in NYC typically welcomes us with snow but to our surprise, we actually experienced decent weather this time around. It was warm on the first day we arrived and we had great fun exploring and eating our hearts through NYC. Did I ever mention that we love to eat? We may not be foodies, but we just love good food. If you’re ever in NYC, you must try Shake Shack, Xi’an Famous Foods, Peter Luger Steakhouse and have a drink at Angel’s Share. These are some of our usual must-eats in the city.
The next few days were spent running to different showrooms and tradeshows (we even skipped lunch!) to view, try-on, and obsess about all of the incredible pieces that we were considering for the store. All of our brands came out swinging and we actually had a tough time making edits on what we were going to bring to the store.
By the end of the trip, we were definitely ready to head home to Torrance. We saw amazing pieces and received a lot of great news from our brands. We have some exciting plans for the future of the store and this trip really helped to set the plan in motion. Next stop, VEGAS!

If you do not know about We Are The Market, you have been missing out. This blog is the brain child of BPMW Agency, the fashion consultancy behind the Capsule fashion tradeshow, one of the best tradeshows in fashion.
We Are The Market’s goal is to cover “…the people, clothes, ideas, inspiring moments and things that push modern style forward. Written for both those in the trenches of the industry and the spectators who support it, WATM is the virtual chronicle of our fashion world.” And they do a hell of a job doing so.
Needless to say, we were honored when WATM asked us for our opinion on Instagram’s influence on the fashion market and for our business. The article is well crafted and after reading the various opinions of our peers, we have a more diverse perspective on social media, marketing and Instagram.

In the world of blogs, it’s an uphill battle to try to set yourself apart from everyone else. David and Damien are well on their way in creating a difference with their Cultivated blog. We were honored when the guys reached out to us to learn more about Threads and Needles and what we are trying to do at the store.
David and Damien are “…enthusiasts who want to bring you the best on style, product, design and culture” and what we love about their blog is that they are working to showcase a west coast centric prespective on all aspects of design and fashion. The guys write, shoot, edit and produce all of the content on their blog and you can see their efforts through well curated and crafted posts.
One of the joys of working at our store is the opportunity to meet interesting, like-minded individuals like David and Damien who, like us, are just trying to put their stamp in the fashion and design world.

When we were photographing this jacket, we kept falling in love with it a little bit more with every frame. This is a Engineered Garments staple piece but Daiki has updated this seasons’ jacket with a “convertible” hood but still has the all the details (and pockets) that the EG faithfuls have grown to love.

In Store Now | Engineered Garments Fall 2012
Engineered Garments Fall 2012 is better than advertised. Seriously, it’s ridiculous. With Engineered Garments, it’s all about the details and Daiki does a great job of mixing the familiar with details you do not expect like a club collar, upside down pockets or buttons that just tie the shirt together just right. On top of that, the cut of the shirts just fits perfectly and because they only use the best fabrics, it already feels like your favorite shirt.
